Watchful Eye

Can we truly be alone in a world where we’re constantly being watched? The answer might not be as simple as you think. Given the powerful technology we’ve created, the influence of social media, and this overlying idea of surveillance, it’s quite difficult to find a moment where we’re actually alone. My series, Watchful Eye, utilizes high altitude drone portraits in open, isolated spaces to echo this theme, showing that while the creations of the 21st century can be used as an enhancer of art, they can also encroach on individual privacy. The subjects in these photos, desperately seeking out a moment of isolation and detachment, can never truly find it, because they’re always being watched.
